Yes. The Well Center has therapists who are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Aetna, and Cigna. Because insurance participation can vary by therapist and individual plan, we’ll help you understand your options and find a therapist who is a good fit for both your needs and your coverage.
We also offer self-pay and reduced-rate options.
Yes. Insurance coverage can vary depending on your individual student health plan and the therapist you choose. Our Practice Manager can help you determine whether we have a provider who is in-network with your plan and explain your other options before you schedule.
We are in-network with the employee health insurance through Clemson University.

Depending on your needs and therapist, telehealth can be a convenient option for college students, busy professionals, parents, and anyone who prefers to meet from home.
Absolutely. College students are an important part of our practice. Our therapists work with college-aged clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, perfectionism, academic stress, relationships, identity, family changes, life transitions, and the many adjustments that can come with college and early adulthood.
Our office is also less than three miles from Clemson University, making in-person therapy convenient for Clemson students.
Yes. Several of our therapists are trained in EMDR and other trauma-focused approaches.
EMDR may be used to help clients work through trauma and other distressing experiences. If you're specifically interested in EMDR, let us know during your new-client consultation so we can help determine which therapist may be the best fit.
Our therapists have experience with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, panic attacks, grief, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, school concerns, identity development, emotional regulation, life transitions, perinatal mental health, stress, and more.
Because our team includes therapists with different specialties, populations, and therapeutic approaches, we can help you find someone whose experience fits what you're going through.
Yes! We are one of the only counseling centers that offers couples counseling.
Couples may come to therapy to work on communication, conflict, trust, intimacy, major life transitions, commitment concerns, co-parenting or simply to strengthen a relationship that already has a solid foundation.
Our practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and welcomes couples and relationships of all kinds.
Yes. We provide therapy for children ages 5+, preteens, and teenagers, depending on the individual therapist.
Our child and teen therapists work with concerns including anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, depression, school difficulties, self-esteem, family transitions, stress, and more. Some of our clinicians also incorporate parents and families into treatment when appropriate.
Same week appointments are often an option. Availability varies by therapist, but we've designed our consultation and scheduling process to make getting started as simple as possible. We do not provide crisis sessions or same day appointments.
Submit a new-client consultation request and we'll help identify therapists whose specialties, availability, and insurance participation fit your needs. If we aren't able to provide the right fit, we'll do our best to point you toward another trusted resource.
Your consultation is an opportunity for us to learn what you're looking for and help you find the right therapist. All adults 18+ must attend their own consultation call to start individual therapy.
We'll talk through things like what you'd like support with, whether you prefer in-person or virtual therapy, your scheduling needs, and insurance or payment questions. From there, we can help you determine the best next step and schedule an initial appointment when appropriate.
No. The Well Center provides psychotherapy and counseling services rather than medication management.
If medication may be helpful as part of your care, your therapist can talk with you about coordinating with an appropriate medical or psychiatric provider.
Some clients may need documentation related to academic accommodations. We are trained in providing academic letters of support. However, whether we can provide documentation depends on the circumstances, the type of documentation requested, and the clinician's ability to appropriately support the request.
Please contact us before scheduling if documentation is one of your primary reasons for seeking services so we can help determine whether The Well Center is the appropriate fit.
